1 Peter 1:13-16, 23-25
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy”… For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. This has put a strain on our relationship, brought stress in abundance and caused us to behave in ways we would not consider normal. It is natural to wonder why God would throw all this in our face at the same time and put us through such a trying time and then God speaks through His word saying that we should consider it pure joy to face trials! What is God saying to us today and what is the point if our faith is going to cause us to only suffer? (more…)
