Leviticus 22:1-3,9,14,31-33 The LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings the Israelites consecrate to me, so they will not profane my holy name. I am the LORD. “Say to them: ‘For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the LORD… “‘The priests are to perform my service in such a way that they do not become guilty and die for treating it with contempt. I am the LORD, who makes them holy… “‘Anyone who eats a sacred offering by mistake must make restitution to the priest for the offering and add a fifth of the value to it… “Keep my commands and follow them. I am the LORD. Do not profane my holy name, for I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the LORD, who made you holy and who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD.”

It seems the priests and their families were setup for disaster considering all the restrictions God has placed upon them.

There are more don’ts than dos and the question that comes to mind again is what is God saying and why?

As we enter God’s presence once again, we are reminded by God to be Holy because He is Holy. This for us is a clear indication to us that being in God’s presence is not like being in man’s company.

God’s standards are way higher than ours and His holiness is beyond words. Even the respect given to dignitaries and guests of the state around the world have no comparison to the honor God expects when we come before Him.

I am reminded of Revelation 4:8-11 which reads,

Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’
who was, and is, and is to come.”
Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
“You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”

Clearly the hosts of heaven revere God and offer 24×7 worship and praise to God just because He is God. However, we in our humanness bring God into our broken daily living reality and forget who we deal with.

We as a creation have become so selfish that we no longer respect our maker but instead try to put God on the shelf and give Him limited access into our busyness.

God also reminds us about offerings given to Him by those who love Him. These offerings were in those days also given in food and the priesthood was permitted to eat of the offering but clearly that exception was being misused and God had to remind them of what was permissible and not.

It totally resonates with modern day giving where God’s servants who receive His offerings are oftentimes caught misusing them. It is unfortunate but true that many spiritual leaders have been caught with their hands in the offering bag.

God in His mercy spoke against such actions, offered a way of making peace with Him if such an instance occurred and calls all His servants to a higher standard because they don’t serve the powers of this world but represent the maker of the whole universe whose very nature is to be Holy!

I pray today that we as God’s chosen creation would love and respect God with our entire lives and all that He has blessed us with and I also pray that God would help us to be faithful because He is faithful.

In His Loving Service,
ServantBoy

    Praying alongside you.

My devotional today spoke about living up to His standards and making our lives count according to His requirements. I take this as a confirmation!

    Blessings much,

      Hi Ann,

Thanks for the encouragement and specifically for being a conduit for God’s confirmation that I am still able to hear His voice as before. Heading over to your blog to read your post now.

      Blessings, Vineet

Well, I’m crying over nearly everything I read here tonight. Your post is no exception. There was something about the host of heaven revering God and offering 24 x 7 praise and worship, just because He is God , that has really gotten to me. Thank you. May I not be swayed away from anything that I feel led to do for Him, for His name’s sake, because He is worthy of it and so much more.
God bless you, dear Vineet, and your precious family! So good to have you back here in blog land again!

      Hi Deb,

I’ve missed being here but I needed the time away to get some serious challenges in our lives dealt with and God is beyond good! For every challenge we had, He helped us overcome them or gave us the grace to deal with them and the one message that has remained in my head from all my time before Him was the phrase He spoke from scripture to me, ‘Be still and know that I am God’. That same statement has rung in my head over and over again and today I confess it is literally a ‘mantra’ I can chant to myself when I am faced with an issue in my life. Being still before God and acknowledging Him just as the hosts of heaven did in Isaiah 6 and Revelation 4 is what we are called to do and everything will be added unto us as needed.

      In Christ, Vineet
