Revelation 19:11-16 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

What a powerful chapter to read today and I wish I could piece it over many days so that we could savor its richness but I do believe the key to today’s chapter for me is the revelation of the person above.

In all the imagery of this prophecy, who is this person who has four names and is even referred to as The Word of God?

I’m sure you knew if before me that this person revealed is none other than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What is with the description of Him you might wonder and here is something to chew on.

The white horse is the symbol of conquest and triumph (Rev. 6:2). His eyes are described as flame of a fire meaning bright, piercing, all seeing, flashing light, and also a consuming fire of the wicked. The diadems show that He has all kingly authority as He is King of Kings.

The blood on His robe is his own blood through which He conquers His enemies and that of his enemies (Isa. 63:3). The armies are the saints, purified, holy, a conquering host, led by Christ to victory. The sharp sword in His mouth is the word of God by which Christ’s conquests are won.

His rule is not of tyranny but is meant to imply a firm and lasting rule (Psa. 2:9). There are 4 names He is referred by which are Faithful and True, a name which no one knows but Him, The Word of God and King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Today I considered the fact that the world does not understand us because we were once a big part of them and suddenly not. We were once sinners and now are being called sanctified. Jesus said, what is impossible with man is made possible with God (Luk. 18:27)!

We who are called by Him and redeemed in His blood are called not to lie with the world and partake of it lusting but to serve as witnesses of this great God who saved us from the pits of hell.

Wake up children of God and remember who saved us, what He saved us from and start preparing for the marriage of our Lamb! If you are not saved by the grace of God, I pray that you will invite this King of Kings into your life as your savior today and join His army of saints.

In His Loving Service, ServantBoy

  1. Vineet, I loved this. The part where the blood on His robe was His own through which He conquers His enemies really grabbed me. And about how the world doesn’t understand us. That was important for me to hear too. I keep thinking it’s because I’m doing something wrong, am a poor communicator, a bad witness. Thank you so much for pouring yourself out through these Revelation posts . . .for us. 🙂

    Deb,
It’s amazing that you wrote at the very moment you did because after I posted the devotional, I started to wonder if I was operating in my own wisdom or leaning on God for His and if I was doing dis-service to Him in the bargain because being my own critique, I sometimes feel what I put out is not what God might have found giving glory to His name. Thank you for being the voice that God used to speak to my heart. I praise God for you. BTW, I had a wonderful time this morning praying for you and your family and it is amazing to see how God made you my sister in Christ!
    Blessings,
    Vineet

  3. I am so blown away at your prayers for us! 🙂 And you must know that He is listening and answering them in my life in wonderful, powerful ways. I am in a very different place here. Many have prayed for me for years and years. No real change. But, the change is not in my circumstances so much as in me. This morning, while you were praying, He showed me about being an offering laid on the fire, for Him. To be a sweet aroma, for Him. To please Him and glorify Him, no matter how confusing or limited my situation may be. Thank you beyond what these simple words can say, for lifting me up to Him! your sis, deb

      Deb,
There is no reason for you to thank me. I rejoice in how God brings His people together to stand in the gap for each other. It is amazing how His Holy Spirit stirs us to pray for people at times and we don’t know why but that’s God’s perfectly orchestrated plan in play and we are but the instruments in His orchestra.
      In Christ,
      Vineet

To accept the Word of God, is to acknowledge that His blood saved us from our fallen state of sin. Man is unable to atone to God for our failing. Only God could atone for our failings by the sacrifice of His Son. It is through the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit that we can understand the teachings of Jesus to attain salvation.

Thank you Sir for reiterating the good news to the broken and sinful world. I certainly was chief of the sinners and only by God’s grace am I saved today. Thank you for your encouragement and look forward to more from you. In Christ, Vineet
