1 Peter 5:6-11
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

One of the challenges of living is that we are constantly faced with choices and some of these choices are not easy to make. Sometimes it is an urge or craving that causes us to falter, sometimes it an offer of something that’s too hard to refuse, sometimes it is difficult circumstances in our lives which color our thinking and results in bad decisions, but there are always choices and wisdom is something we always wish we had. As a christian, it gets worse because we are called to live a life that glorifies God and in God’s sight all bad choices, whether ignorable or not in human eyes, are bad. How are we expected to make right choices and is God setting us up for failure? When we consider forgiveness, the only one who comes to mind is Jesus. He died on the cross for sinners like you and me to ensure we have a way of reconnecting with God the Father through His shed blood. Every time I sit at God’s feet, I am reminded of my sins and how short I fall from the glory of God. However, we serve a loving God who forgives us our sins when we confess and so we live by God’s grace alone. If God could chose to save a wretched sinner like me, he sure made the right choice and if God loves me so dearly that He sacrificed His son for me, He sure loves me. To face the challenges and hard choices of life is hard but when I think of the choice God made to love me, it is not hard at all. God gives us the wisdom to make right decisions when we ask Him and He has given us victory from sin and the devil through Jesus’ blood. What more could we ask for and doesn’t that make life worth the living? All for God’s glory alone 🙂

  1. I love the way you handle what at the outset looks too hard, too challenging. Then, you show us Jesus, who gives us wisdom and victory over sin and suddenly, things are looking up! We can do this, because of Him! We can make a good choice by choosing Him! 🙂 Thank you for my pep talk today!

      Deb,
Thank you once again for your comment. I always look at everything negatively but when I look through the life of Jesus, I see such inspiration and motivation and suddenly all my concerns fly away. Your comments are such an encouragement to me to keep pursuing Christ and nothing else.
      In Christ,
