Hebrews 4:12-13, 15-16
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account… For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Growing up as a young child, my parents always told me that I should not lie to them because they knew if I was lying. It was amazing to see how well they could read me and I always thought someone was telling on me. Now with two kids of my own, I tell them the same thing and I understand what insight my parents had 🙂 With God, however, things are a bit more real. He is able to see the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts and not just our body language that might reveal our lies. God, who created us, knows us from the inside out and to Him, nothing is hidden. Obviously God knows that none of us make His cut and therefore why should we even try? What is God saying to us today through His word? (more…)
