2 Corinthians 11:2-4
I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

After days, I have been able to sit with the study again and the reason is laziness. Yes, laziness of mind and body which caused me to spiritually drift and lose my bearings for many days. This is such a strange feeling and I am not proud or glad for having slipped but I thank God for waking me up and placing me back on my feet. I tried to write yesterday and it was futile because I was doing it in my own strength and wisdom, not the Lord’s. What caused it I wondered and this morning, as I drove into work and talked with God, He revealed it to me.

As we go along in life, we tend to take things for granted and God is someone we most easily manage to take for grated because we don’t see Him and therefore reprioritize our time with God because we think He will understand. This is the same issue that God warned the Israelites about when He gave them the Ten Commandments. Jesus is real and truly alive and deserves our complete time and attention. When we take Him and God the father for granted, we lose our footing and suddenly we realize that we are in the middle of an ocean of meaninglessness and we are desperate to be saved from it. That is what I felt this morning and God threw me a lifeline to bring me back to him. Are you being led astray by the serpent’s cunning or do you have your feet on the solid ground called Jesus?

  1. Your honesty and heart for God inspires me to keep seeking Him. Thank you for throwing us a lifeline to Him. May we ever cling to our Jesus! God bless you, Vineet! deb

      Deb,
Like Paul said, I can only glory in my weakness because it’s in our weakness that God powers us on for His glory. I praise God that our walk with Him is enriched with our every step whether in failure or in success. Thank you for your encouragement.
      Blessings,
      Vineet

I can relate to the feeling of drift….

Thank God He doesn’t lose us…. even if we feel lost ourselves……

      Robert,
Thank you for your comment. What I found in my drifting is that the Lord knocks on our door and we have to make the effort to open or we will keep drifting and going further away. Even though I drifted for a few days without any specific reason, it was hard to shake out of my laziness and that feeling compounds itself the longer we drift. Praying for you brother!
      Blessings,
      Vineet

    Ahh Vineet,
We all experience this, every one of us. Receiving His lifeline is what is of great importance. I myself have had the same battle lately, I have been occupied with work and other things and can relate to the “drifting”. But you have stayed true to your calling, and have continued to lean not on your own understanding concerning your writing. You were able to spot the fact that the words were “yours” yesterday, not His, and you waited on Him, which is spiritual wisdom.
    God Bless
    Jim

    • ServantBoy says:

      Jim,
Thank you for your kind words. I have to admit that even though the words were mine and I could’ve just posted it, due to a time crunch I was unable to and praise God for causing that time crunch or I would’ve worked for my glory, not His. It was a good reminder that when we serve God, we have to serve with our all and our walk has to be steady.
      Blessings,
      Vineet

Ohh Vineet..I totally understand when you say ‘drifting without any reason’. Have been there few days back..was caught up with something in my life and felt that I was giving more importance to that rather than for God…and I could feel the difference in my prayer life and also in my writings…Could not feel the move of the Holy Spirit. But I’m glad that we serve a God who waits patiently for us to return and sends us the lifeline to catch up.

Thank you for being so true to your feelings and God rejoices to see a humbke and true heart..
    God Bless,
    Rani

    • ServantBoy says:

      Rani,
You said it right about us drifting without any reason. Right now I wonder how I could let myself go but as I watch my kids and their lives in respect to us as parents, I see where things went wrong and often do. We take everything for granted and seek ourselves or our desires before everything else, which causes us to drift from His loving care. I kick myself every time I drift but try as I might, my selfishness keeps creeping into my walk with the Lord and that causes my drifting. Like my mother says to me, “Pray that I will wait faithfully with the Lord until the end”.
      Blessings,
      Vineet
