2 Corinthians 4:7-10
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

Have you ever tried moulding clay pots using a potter’s wheel? I’ve seen it several times but never attempted it myself but I have tried using clay to make things and not been very successful. The wonderful thing about clay is that when baked, it is a strong container but a slight drop and it breaks into little pieces. Paul refers to us as jars of clay because we are delicately and beautifully made but break with the course of life itself. However, when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are filled with his Holy Spirit that pieces us back together into a creation purposed by Him and for His glory.

This new creation deals with the drops of life, the discouragements, accidents, battles, but because it is now held together by God’s own spirit, it is not destroyed but glorifies God through the hardships. When we are down and out, God is up and able and in so living, we become his voice in this dark world. Are you carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders and unable to carry on? If so, you need Jesus, the lover of our souls who waits with arms wide open to carry our burdens and to transform us into His ambassadors. What are you waiting for?

      Debbie,
Thank you for that encouraging comment. Home buying is scarier than we imagined and the Lord is certainly seeing us through the journey. No credit history plus limited financial means = our impossible situation transformed by God’s awesome provision! About the study, as always, God’s wisdom poured out through broken clay pots means all glory to Him alone!
      Blessings to you and yours,

  2. Vineet,

How are you? Yes….this is a great yet sober reminder that even though our outward man is perishing, the inner man is being strengthen through the afflictions because one day, we will all stand before Him…in glory and just as He is…we will also be! Though I fall, He will again pick me up and lead me on…until that day! Hence, I glory in weakness…coz when I am weak, He is strong!

What a blessed hope we have!

    Blessings,

      Gladwell,
Thank you for your comment. I am doing well by the grace of God. When I look at the Bible, I notice that even though it is full of God’s love, the only way God reaches us is to bring us on our knees and correct us because if not, we are content living in our own glory and accomplishments and have no need of him. Therefore the sober but yet loving messages of hope to a depraved humanity. Like you, I glory in my weakness too and I thank God for placing sincere God loving and seeking siblings as you in my life to prop me up and keep me going.
      Blessings,
      Vineet

  3. Vineet, Wonderful post! I love that verse from 2 Corinthians. God is infinitely able to put back together these jars of clay that we are when they break under the weight of the world. Having been shattered into a million pieces at one time in my life, I am able to testify to His ability to use even the most broken of clay pots. Peace, Linda

      Linda,
Thank you for your comment that confirmed my understanding of the passage. It is an encouragement to me. One has to have been there at the bottom of the pit and saved by God’s grace to understand restoration fully and I praise God that He came through for you. I pray that many will be saved by the grace of God and our ministry of His word would help a few more draw close to God.
      Blessings,
      Vineet
