Romans 11:33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”
“Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?”
For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Paul breaks out into poetic praise to God in this doxology at the end of the chapter where he cautions Gentiles about looking down on the Jews for their hardheartedness. A serious issues we face as humans is one-upmanship whereby we like to feel or gain superiority over others and as Christians, we face this challenge. We are often heard boasting of our Churches, pastors, denominations, God’s blessings to us, our memory, our understanding of God’s word, etc. Pride is something that always trips us in our walk, especially with the Lord.

We are reminded in the passage above about God’s wisdom and knowledge which is so overwhelming that Paul with his lifetime of serving God could not get a hold on. All of human wisdom combined cannot piece together God’s mind and we can never repay Him for His goodness. As we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and follow Him, we realize that we are more and more in debt of Him because of His endless grace and mercy to us and we cannot pride ourselves in anything from or in us. All glory is to God who is the author and the finisher of our faith.

    Vineet,
I agree with you completely on this. I have seen this in churches in my life where politics have become involved, and pride and superiority seem to be at the root. One-upsmanship always leaves someone feeling lowly, and this doesn’t glorify God. Thank you for this message! God Bless

    Jim,
Thank you once again for your encouragement and support. You have witnessed pride and superiority in others but today’s message was for me. I have been prideful at times and today’s passage was God’s rightful slap on my face for being heady about my knowledge and wisdom which is not from me but from Him.
    Blessings,
    Vineet

    Vineet,

Thank you for that thought..Yes, pride is something that we trip over many a times in our walk wih Jesus..All glory and honour is unto Him who is the author and finisher of our faith…It is only because of Him that we have started the race…still walking with Him only because of His mercies..and one day will complete our race..with His help.

    God Bless,

  4. Hi Vineet,

I can tell you my part. I more I get to know Him, the more fearful I become. Why because as He said…HE CANNOT SHARE HIS GLORY WITH ANOTHER. NEVER! So…I trend carefully because I am only an earthen vessel being used for noble services through Him.

    This is a great challenge!

    Blessings and thank you.
