Romans 6:19b-23
Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Shame is a common problem we Christians face daily. We are embarrassed to let the world know our new life because we don’t believe the world will accept the ‘new’ us. We would rather be acceptable to the world around us than to Christ, whom we know is real and true but does not exist in our day-to-day lives. This is a challenge we face everyday and overcoming it seems like such a hard battle. It is to people like us that Paul is writing.

I have 747 friends on facebook, a social networking website, and a dear sister and friend of mine suggested I feature these devotionals on the site. It was hard because I felt most of my friends would not be accepting of me and my religious views. The fear of losing friends gripped me and I pulled down the feature after a day of trying. However, recently I was encouraged once again by the Holy Spirit and I consented. My loss may be a few friends but my gain is the many who might seek the Lord and find their Savior and Redeemer in Him. Lets not be slaves to sin but to God and therefore grow in holiness and gain eternal life!
