The Right Foundation

Posted: Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in Luke, New Testament

Luke 6:46-49
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

I hope you have sung the song about the wise man who built his house upon the rock and the foolish man who built his house upon the sand? It was a song we sang nearly every week at Sunday School at Church as kids and it was fun but today, it means so much more to me than it did then as just another song. Jesus during his ministry was constantly confronted by critics but instead of avoiding or ignoring them, he focused his energies on loving and blessing them. A few verses earlier, he reminds us that we should love our enemies and do good to those who hate us. These are ridiculous words to anyone because it is contrary to what our hearts want us to do. What does the Lord want to teach us today? Are these wise words worthy of reading but not worthy of using in today’s advanced age?

I started this blog a month or two back and I’ve continued to write on the Google groups site since 2005. If you think of this ministry, it may not sound like much and I probably do not do anything to promote it. The Lord laid on my heart years back that I should channelize my energies in his service through this manner and in that I have been blessed as I get to focus on his word, I get to dwell on it, pen my thoughts and hopefully people around the world are blessed too. It takes time and effort, it involves revealing to the world who I am in Christ, it draws persecution from those who know my brokenness and it’s not easy. However, it is the only way forward for me in my walk with the Lord because it is the right foundation for my life and a platform to reach out to the lost. If I dilly-dallied about my faith and lived my faith in a closet, I would one day face persecution and collapse. I know the Lord is calling us out of our closets today to invest into our relationship with him whether we are in China, India, UAE, USA or even Canada and I pray you take that bold first step and build a strong foundation.

In His Loving Service,
